Conferences and expos make a great excuse to get out and see the Country. First up, after a two-year absence, the Summer Fancy Food Show is returning to its roots in New York City from 30 June to 2 July at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center. If you have never been to the Fancy Food Show it is definitely worth the journey as this is the best place to uncover what’s new and what is trending.
Then the Fine Chocolate and Dessert Show returns to Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois from 18 October through the 20th with the National Chocolate and Dessert Show (Trade Only) overlapping from 20 October through the 22nd at the same venue. Chicago in October can be stunning, chocolate is always good and you might even get to take in da’ Bears.
Continuing on west, the Winter Fancy Food Show runs from 19 January through the 21st in San Francisco, although it is not clear on the website, I expect that it is being held in the Mosconi Center. This is not a repeat of the Summer Show in New York, they have many different vendors and a decided West Coast flare; besides who doesn’t love San Francisco in January.
If you are smart you will hold tight in San Francisco until winter clears out here in the Northeast and then take the train to San Jose where the Craft Beverage Industry is debuting their trade show. This is being designed for all the small batch artisans that really would like to quit their day jobs and those who have but want to take the next step up the food chain.
I heard that an Internet search will yield numerous vegetarian and vegan conferences but I have decided not to include any of those here as there just isn’t any meat in their agendas.
